Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species
CITES has helped with the conservation of the Spotted Greenshank. They put aside restricted areas where hunting is not allowed. These areas are along water areas, like the Yellow River Delta, and many more rivers.
These organizations also help conserve the Spotted Greenshank as well as other species too:
- The Nature Conservancy
- World Wildlife Fund
- The IUCN Red List Of Threatened Species
can they be saved?
With enough conservation and protection, YES they can be saved! The main reason for their decline is due to human development of coastal wetlands for infrastructure. If we put an end to this development, the Spotted Greenshanks would rise in number. Yes there are threats that we can't solve, but if we can solve the main human threats then they would rise in numbers.
what you can do!
Just your voice is enough! Spread the word and make people more aware on the situation. Some people might not even know what the Spotted Greenshanks are. Awareness is the number one way to make a difference. If you want to do more then donate! Donate to an organization that specifically works with the conservation of the Spotted Greenshanks.
